To Our Members and Friends

Like all the Club members before us, we have enjoyed every minute around the pool, on the tennis courts and walking the property (often with disc in hand, playing "disc golf" on a sunny afternoon). We all loved a 38 year old facility, watched impressive competition evolve in recent years and experienced the ever-increasing cost of operations, until the day the Dolphin Club finally closed. Yes, "that day" is finally here, and it certainly is both a sad day and an opportunity for the community. Tennis lessons and camps are still offered this summer!

While membership applications are no longer being accepted, Randy Paisley continues to offer his outstanding tennis lessons for youth and group sessions with the support of new owners. Please contact Randy at (615) 429-3638 for current information. In cooperation with the new owners, Brentwood High School continues to practice and use the courts for home games and match play for the balance of this season.

We are letting go of the vision we had for continued youth sports activities on this land. Our team worked hard to deliver a new, world class sports facility (www.thebrentwoodsportsacademy.com) with careful review by the dedicated engineering and planning staff at the City of Brentwood. A great many Brentwood residents and also a surprisingly high number of immediate neighbors supported this project. In working through details with city planning staff and management, when taking in feedback from neighbors, listening to planning commissioners and ultimately, to our hearts, we think we found the highest and best use for the site (quite literally).

Calvary Church, which a local church with strong leadership, a dedicated congregation and plans for a modest sanctuary will make their home on this property and deliver an important service to our community. We hope you will welcome them and help usher in a new era of service and growth at the corner of Wilson Pike and Old Smyrna road.

In this journey, knowing the Dolphin Club could not be sustained with “summer only” operations, we explored every option… no stone was left unturned, even as we committed to the development of the Sports Academy, our ears and hearts were open. We believe this is the most attractive outcome for everyone. We are grateful for the learning opportunities from this experience, the extra few years we enjoyed at the pool, as well as the outstanding professional and priceless personal support we received along the way from members and friends. It’s so very true: nothing is constant but change.
